The reigning and five-time world rally champion Sebastien Ogier completed the second day of the Rally Monte Carlo, the starting race of the season in 2018, in the leading position. However, as the day before, during afternoon sessions, the advantage of the rider M-Sport has halved.
For Saturday service Park Ogier went with a lead of 1 minute and 3 seconds after the defeat of his main rival Ott Tanaka on СУ9. At two stages in the second half of the day, he chose not to risk it and both times lost to his former teammate about 15 seconds.
“Everything is going according to plan. With a lead of 30 seconds, I wanted to finish today,” commented sébastien his speech at the finish СУ13.
Third after 13 special stages alone is the best of the Toyota drivers Jari-Matti Latvala. But on the final day I have an interesting fight for fourth place because the other Finn Lappi Esapekka just half a second ahead of Citroen leader Chris Mick. While most Mick at four decisive stages on Sunday don’t forget about Alfine Evans – partner, Ogier and M-Sport gives just 20 seconds to his compatriot.
In seventh place in the course of Saturday’s special stages went up Thierry Neuville, who could fight for the podium with Latvala, if not lost four minutes on the first stage on Thursday.
Completing the top-5 in the first two days of the Rally Monte Carlo. Buffie, Craig Breen and the leader of the WRC2 category Jan Kopecky.
On Sunday the participants of the Rally Monte Carlo is waiting for the final four stage with a total length of 64 kilometers.
