The pilot of Toyota’s Bernhard ten Brink celebrated the victory on the 11th stage of “Dakar-2018” with a length of 281 kilometers through the towns of Belen Fiambala – Chilecito.
Most of the day, ten Brink was in the lead in the intermediate protocols, and at the finish the Dutchman ahead of Cyril despres, 4 minutes and 35 seconds. Despres led the trio of Peugeot racers, leaving behind Carlos Sainz Sr. and stéphane Peterhansel by only 5 and 15 seconds, respectively.
And after the finish of the special stage the father of the pilot of Renault F1 got great news: the organizers revoked his ten-minute penalty for the incident with the ATV rider Selenom that occurred on the ninth stage.
The Peugeot team has been able to provide significant evidence that if Sainz Jr. had a contact with Selenom, touch was miserable. The organizers carefully studied the telemetry Peugeot, quashed the fine Carlos. Now he is ahead of Peterhansel in the overall standings of the rally-RAID for 1 hour and 45 seconds.
Another Toyota racer Nasser al-Attiyah, reaching the third position in the General classification with a gap of 1 hour and 24 minutes from Sainz Sr., took fifth place at the end of the day.
