Williams racer Sergey Sirotkin admitted that it was very difficult to accept rejection from Renault in place of combat rider team.
All last year the Russian has played in the team from Enstone as a test pilot and took part in four training sessions of the season. However, when it came time to choose a combat racer place Jolyon Palmer, the team chose to sign Carlos Sainz, leaving Sergei. It was the second chance of the Russians to gain a foothold in Formula 1 in 2013 Sauber announced Sergey as a combat pilot, but the deal never took place.
“At Sauber I honestly hopes were not pinned, – quotes Sirotkin Racefans.net. The story ended as quickly as it had begun. I just continued my career in the World series and GP2. Life does not stop, I continued to race and win the race.
With Renault it was different. It was my first season when I raced the full schedule. But I was with the team and did everything for its development. However, when you realize that things do not go as you expected, it’s very difficult to make.
You ride with the team and work, but driving spend very little time. It does not suit me. Everything was more difficult than I thought.
But I’m still grateful to Renault, they also contributed to my development as a rider”.
