Former Formula 1 driver Stefan Johansson believes that the problem with the increase of clamping force, which leads to problems with overtaking, on the surface.
In 2017 entered into force the new regulations on aerodynamics. Cars are several seconds faster, but almost twice the number dropped overtaking.
“It is impossible to avoid negative impact on the aerodynamics. Now they say that we need to create downforce from the bottom. This will reduce turbulence, but will not solve all the problems of “dirty” air will still be quoted Johansson edition F1i. In my opinion, the easiest way to increase grip is to make the bus more efficient. To improve the lap time half a second, even in the LMP2 teams spend millions on development of the cars. A new set of tires costs about 2 thousand dollars and can afford to play 1-1,5 seconds. I don’t know why nobody is thinking about that”.
