January 14 on 87-m to year of life from complications of pneumonia died legendary American racer Dan gurney.
Over many years of involvement in Motorsport gurney went to the start in categories such as Formula 1, IndyCar and NASCAR. In the Big Prizes the American spent 86 races at Ferrari, BRM, Porsche, Lotus, Brabham, Eagle and McLaren and five times rose to the top of the podium. But in the history of world Motorsport, he came for another reason – namely gurney after winning the “24 hours of Le Mans” shook the bottle of champagne and made a shower, without knowing it, becoming the founder of the tradition, without which now the podium ceremony is unthinkable in some races.
“With a last beautiful smile on your face Dan left us on January 14, around noon. With the deepest sorrow and gratitude in our hearts we say thank you for the love and joy that you have given us on this earth,” – said in a statement the family of an American rider.
