As Reuters reports, 69-year-old Austrian took the decision to buy the assets of the company, which was founded in 2003 and eight years later sold to Air Berlin.
In December last year, Air Berlin was declared bankrupt, the question arose on the sale of assets (including subsidiary Niki), one of the contenders for which was Lauda. On Monday, the creditors Lauda met with external managers and by the end of the meeting, which ended only in the morning, made the decision.
“Of course, I love it, – said Lauda in an interview with Australian TV channel Oe24. – There can be no doubt that I have always given my heart and soul of the company Niki”.
It is expected that 15 aircraft in Niki Luftfahrt GmbH will resume its flights in late March.
