Top Formula 1 team opposed the new initiatives Liberty Media for the sale of Souvenirs during the Grand Prix.
Traditionally official merchandise was sold in various points within the circuit. But Liberty has proposed to update the concept and to make a single point of sale for all teams. In the American NASCAR series this approach was first tested several years ago, but not long lasted.
“All the promoters support this plan,” – said the commercial Director of Formula 1 Sean Bratches.
However, the teams, in particular Mercedes and Ferrari – the idea did not like.
“Ferrari has always sold more merchandise than any other team, and fans will not be difficult to find a product red, – quotes Turun Sanomat words its source in Maranello. – If a fan in a hurry, he won’t waste time to find the big store. I believe that because of this new scheme we will lose the profit.”
