Before the racing weekend at Daytona two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso visited the headquarters of the American series NASCAR in Charlotte, where this week kicked off a media tour riders ahead of the season-2018.
The Spanish pilot was found with seven-time champion Jimmy Johnson and shared their first memories of him.
“The first time I heard the name Jimmy Johnson in a computer game NASCAR, it seems, in 2003, – quotes Alonso USA Today. – I did not know that he is for racer, and I just liked the coloring of his car. Over the years he has achieved great success, has become a legend. I treat it with great respect.
I’d like to try his hand in NASCAR? Why not? Of course, at the moment no such plans. For starters it would be good to conduct the tests and to understand, like the experience of piloting Stoke-on Kara or not.”
Ex-partner Alonso at Ferrari Kimi Raikkonen in 2011, spent two races in the Junior divisions of NASCAR. On the question of whether he was telling Finn about this experience, the Spaniard replied: “Well, with Kimi it is difficult to find any common topic of conversation.”
