Former technical Director of Williams, and now an expert on Sky Sports F1 Pat Symonds has denied speculation that the night races pilots have problems with visibility.
The Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi, which in the coming weekend will close the season 2017, is one of the three night races in the F1 calendar. But unlike Bahrain and Singapore, the launch at Yas Marina is the sunset and night falls on the highway, around 20 circles.
“Before the first night race in Singapore in 2008, there were many questions and discussions about the artificial lighting of the route, – quotes the Symonds Speed Week. But the only difference for racers is to use the transparent visor. Otherwise nothing special, no problems.
It is very important that we are close to the equator, and the sunset here is very fast. In Melbourne things are very different, there is really a setting sun can severely blind”.
