At the official press conference in Abu Dhabi, McLaren driver Fernando Alonso commented on his experience of tests of prototypes LMP1 and LMP2.
Fernando Alonso completed the first tests the Ligier ahead of the “24 hours of Daytona”
“I have not yet decided about participation at Le Mans,’ said the Spaniard. – It is obvious that I will drive this race in the future, but I don’t know whether it will happen next year.
If to speak about the tests of the prototypes, I was pleased with the first race in Bahrain, when I was piloted by LMP1. Obviously, this is a completely different machine: there are technologies such as traction control, all-wheel drive, which is not in F1. I need much more practice in the management of this technique to gain speed.
If we talk about the second tests LMP2 in Spain, where I was preparing for Daytona, they also were successful. These prototypes are rough and simple in management.”
