Four-time world champion of Formula 1 Alain Prost, now a consultant with Renault, said on why the team decided to part with Jolyon Palmer.
The Briton left the team after the race in Suzuka, giving place to Carlos Sainz.
“I don’t want to speak ill of the racers, but Jolyon was not so involved in the work process, as we would like the engineers and the whole team, and thus far behind partner – Simple quotes Motorsport-Total. – We want both sides of the boxes worked the same and the riders equally participated in the technical briefings.
I’m sure Jolyon could work better. From teammate he lagged behind on average, two to three tenths of a second. On the one hand, it’s not much, but in qualifying this led to a difference in a few positions.”
