The head of the Red Bull Racing Christian Horner said that after the Mercedes team first tested the concept of “aura”, the FIA had no choice but to support the implementation of the security system.
“Mercedes came up with this concept and put the FIA in a difficult situation, – said Christian in an interview with German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. – If now happens any incident, and the car will not be halo, but after the fact would be that he could save the life of the pilot, then from a legal point of view it would be difficult to explain why the system was not installed on the car.”
RBR, in turn, presented its own concept, which, however, was not the best option, because after testing the protective fairing Sebastian Vettel complained of dizziness.
“We proposed a concept that would become more aesthetic than this flop. But now the FIA backed into a corner because of all the options she has only “halo,” concluded Christian.
