Racer Ferrari Kimi Raikkonen completed the Grand Prix of Russia in third place, said he was happy for the Finnish fans and Valtteri Bottas, and also said that the race was very boring.
“The start I failed and I’m glad I lost even more positions after the first lap we all were wheel to wheel, began Kimi. Good thing I stayed ahead of Lewis before the end of the race, and we were able to earn important points for the team. This race was boring, I couldn’t catch up with Sebastian, who was ahead, and Lewis couldn’t catch me. We tried hard, but nothing worked. I just held my position.
But I am very happy for Valtteri. I know that there are people who believe that we have something against each other, but it’s not. I am very happy for him and delighted him at once to congratulate, as we were together on the podium. I’m sure it’s a very good start for him and for all of us. A large part of the season still to come, and if he will issue such a start in each race, we’re all going down.
I think this year a lot will happen on the first lap, because Ferrari and Mercedes are very close now to the rate. I can say that on this day, I am more than happy for the Finnish fans – two Finn on the podium.”
Last time this happened nearly nine years ago at the Grand Prix of Hungary-2008, then the race was won by Heikki Kovalainen, and the third was the same Raikkonen.
When at a press conference Kimi was asked why he was so surprised to know that Valtteri is ahead, the 2007 world champion, said:
“I was just a little confused after the pit stop and didn’t understand what the pilot of the Mercedes is behind me and some ahead.”
