Sergio Perez believes that in the beginning of season 2017, Force India jumped higher than his head, ahead of all its rivals from the middle of the peloton.
Despite the problems with the pace, the Indian team has scored points in all three races and now occupies fourth place in the constructors ‘ championship.
A large pack of the machine Force India is planning to introduce only at the beginning of may in Barcelona.
“I think our team played really well, considering the speed of the machine at the present time, – quotes the AUTOSPORT Perez. – We managed to use the mistakes of opponents.
I don’t think we had a great pace, especially for a period in Bahrain. If you look at the simulation results, we are not the fifth or the fourth team speed.
I know that we had a lot of stuff to add, and hopefully in Barcelona we will take the next step forward.
I think Williams and Renault a bit ahead of us, like Toro Rosso, but we used every chance we had”.
During the whole racing weekend in Bahrain, the Mexican had problems with the behavior of the rear part, however this did not prevent him to finish seventh.
“The race situation is better than expected, continued Sergio. – For the first stint tyres worked perfectly, I was able to monitor their condition and to create a good gap, then the track out the safety car, which also helped us.
Once we improve the pace of the car and move forward, it will be very strong.”
