New F1 commercial Director Sean Bratches admitted in an interview with Sky Sports in Sochi, that Liberty Media intends to review race calendar to combine stages on a regional basis.
Bratches noted that they asked the guide about 30 runs.
“We have already formed a vision of what we see stages in the future, said Bratches. – I will not be premature to offer any specific city, but you need to create a balance between Europe, America and Asia. Ideally you should spend at first all the races in one region, then move on to another and so on. There are advantages for teams traveling from stage to stage and for fans.
That is to say, now in the next two and a half months will have to get up for the Grand Prix before, in the next two and a half by noon, but the rest of the race will begin in the evening. We believe that this is important.”
Patches admitted that Formula 1 wants based on global stages to promote the unification of fans around the world, as well as to raise interest in the race by carefully selecting cities for the Grand Prix.
“We would like to add more city races and to achieve a balance with traditional routes – continued Patches. – It should be a city capable of attracting a mass audience. We wish the promoters versed in the complex art of attracting fans and the organization of unique events.
I’m optimistic for the further cooperation with them.”
