McLaren racers Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandorn will receive from Honda upgraded the powerplant at the Grand Prix of Russia.
Constant problems with the thermal energy generator (MGU-H) resulted in qualifying in Bahrain, Alonso was not able to attempt in the second segment, while Vandorn not even started the race.

To avoid the recurrence of problems during the tests at Sakhir, Honda has made some adjustments to the installation, so the Belgian was able to complete the planned program.

As it became known to AUTOSPORT, both drivers will be updated specifically for the Grand Prix of Russia MGU-H. Thus, for Stoffel it is the fourth MGU-H this season, which means the penalty for any subsequent used motor-generator. For Alonso it will be the third block.
“After a problematic weekend in Bahrain we worked tirelessly on the tests, – said the head of Motorsport division of Honda Yusuke Hasegawa. – The team worked hard to solve the problems with MGU-H.
After Stoffel drove 81 circle driving MCL32 the second day of testing, we realized that we are moving in the right direction.”
According to race Director McLaren Eric bulge, until Honda solves its problems, McLaren thinks, in what areas could still improve.
