Jacques Villeneuve criticized riders who did not support the decision of Fernando Alonso to act as “500 miles of Indianapolis”.
In late may, two-time world champion will start on the legendary stage at the “Old Kirpichnaya” and even decided to donate a part in the Monaco Grand Prix.
Some of fellow Spaniard questioned this decision, especially given the danger of racing on ovals.
“As I said, the decision Alonso shows that he is a real racer, – said Villeneuve in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS. – Enough to hear what they say about the other pilots.
I heard, for example, the views of Nico Hulkenberg and Romain Grosjean. Hulkenberg said it was dangerous, and he served in the “Le Mans” because it’s a different race. Sounds like some kind of excuse.
In my opinion, there are two categories of riders: you either Alonso or Nico Rosberg. So, Hulkenberg is Rosberg”.
