The head of Motorsport division, Honda Yusuke Hasegawa said that the problem with excessive vibration of the power plant will be solved not earlier than may or June, that is, until the next big update of the unit.
Honda is working on an improved powerplant
The problem with the vibrations became one of the most acute for Honda during pre-season tests in Barcelona. Basically vibration occur when shifting up.
However, the defect, according to Honda, can be eliminated before the GP of Monaco and the GP of Canada, when Honda will update its engine.
“I don’t think the riders will agree with us, but I think we improved the situation with the vibrations in comparison with the beginning of the season, – quotes AUTOSPORT.com Hasegawa. – We were much better in this direction, but the problem still not solved.
We exactly solve this issue with the next update of the motor. But now we can’t give you a specific date. We want to make it as fast as possible”.
In addition, Yusuke told me that Honda made changes to the powerplant in China, made possible by the abolition of the system of tokens in 2017.
“We have updated some parts of the intake system, made possible thanks to the elimination of tokens. However, there is still a limit on the number of engines used per season,” said Hasegawa.
