The reigning and two-time DTM champion Marco Wittmann lost a well-deserved victory in the Sunday race in Zandvoort.
Pilot BMW kept the pressure on Mike Rockenfeller and for the first time in the season 2017 climbed to the top step of the podium, where he received the Cup from the hands of max Verstappen.
But during postgenocidal technical inspection revealed that the tank of the BMW M4 DTM German less than 1 litre of fuel required for sampling, and this is a direct violation of Article 29.A.1 sporting regulations of the series. Thus Wittmann was excluded from race Protocol. The winner is recognized as Rockenfeller, the second place went to loïc Duval, who won his first podium in the DTM, and the third was championship leader Mattias ekström.
Worst of all for Wittmann was the fact that due to the loss of 25 points, he at once fell back from second to eighth place in the standings so tight battle in this year’s DTM championship.
