All five Honda vehicles excluded from the records in both races of the WTCC in China, held two weeks ago at the international circuit of Ningbo.
In the course of the technical inspection on Friday the FIA questioned the legality of the fuel injectors for cars of the Japanese manufacturer, and the results of the second stage was conditional.
The question was considered at a meeting in Geneva this week, following which the technical Department of the FIA ruled that Honda had violated the procedure of homologation, all cars, including the private team Zengo Motorsport should be excluded from the results of races in China.
Honda agreed with the decision, but noted that the problem was in the interpretation of the homologation procedure.
“We want to stress that always acted in good faith, – said the head of the division of Honda R & D Riuchi Furukawa. – Unfortunately, we have interpreted the process of homologation differently than the FIA”.
Thus, in the standings manufacturers Honda lost its leadership and is now 11 points inferior to Volvo. In the individual championship, Tiago Monteiro, who continues to recover from injury is still the main rival Ted Bjork, which gives 3.5 points. But the partner of the Portuguese Norbert Michelis after suspension dropped to fourth place, behind the second rider Volvo Nika Katsburga, and now plays the leader of 32.5 points.
It should be noted that for Honda this disqualification was the second for the last year and a half. The Japanese manufacturer was excluded from the results of last year’s stage in Marrakech due to the fact that the front part of the bottom and the trunk lid on the car Civic is not consistent with homologaciones design.
