The Munnich Motorsport driver Rob Huff posted the fastest time in the morning test session of the WTCC at Monza, ahead of Mehdi Bennani and trio Polestar Volvos Nestor Girolami, Ted björck’s and Yvan Muller.
Huff the morning was headed by the Protocol, and then in the final hour managed to improve my time a few times. In his last attempt he managed to go round in 1.52,888, ahead by 0.8 seconds in favour of Sebastien Loeb Racing Bennani.
The morning session was twice interrupted red flags. First Ted björck’s suffered a puncture on his Volvo S60 TC1 and 15 minutes before the end of Nestor Girolami crashed the car in the first Lesmo. Girolami nevertheless still was the best from Volvo, second only 1.4 seconds of the leader.
Three Volvo factory is a private car Lada Vesta with Following Elahera driving. Nephew Muller lost his uncle just 0.3 seconds.
After Elahera took seventh and eighth place two SLR Citroen Tom Chilton and John Filippi.
Tiago Monteiro managed to ride only the installation lap in his Honda Civic, becoming the ninth.
The top 10 was rounded out by Alberto Sirki. The Italian was replaced by Tom Coronel in the ROAL Motorsport Chevrolet, as the Dutchman will be able to start tests in the morning.
