The Hyundai driver Thierry Neuville has acknowledged that the Rally Spain lost the chance to win the championship in 2017.
Another two stages ago, the Belgian had shared the first place in the championship with Sebastien Ogier, but the two vanishing in a row dropped him far back. In the UK and Australia will be played on 60 more points, but Thierry has no illusions and believes that to win 38 points would be impossible.
Kris Meeke is going to win the Rally Spain, the gathering of Thierry Neuville
“Yes, the fight for the title is over, but this rally – said Neville in an interview with the official website WRC. – I tried to do everything to win, but the stage in Spain was hard. After the problems on Saturday I had no choice but to attack. So there are no regrets.
In recent years we have had many UPS and downs, but we win and lose together. We must look forward and try to finish the season on a high note.
This year we often had no luck. There were many small problems, mistakes that cost good results. But it will make our team stronger”.
