Citroen Motorsport division began development of a new car C3 R5, which plans to exhibit in the class WRC2 in 2018, according to AUTOSPORT.
Previous models of the PSA Group – the DS3 R5 and Peugeot 208 T16 – were not very successful and gained great popularity among the customers. As says the head of Citroen Racing, Yves Matton, creating a new car these problems will be considered.
“We have agreed on a schedule for development and summer will provide even more information – said Matton. – The car will be homologated and on the road will debut in 2018. The new model has nothing to do with the previous one. They are two completely different project and brand. But most importantly, for the development of responsible professionals. To work on C3 R5 we have attracted new technical partners.”
The Matton confirmed that the factory team of Citroen in WRC2 will not.
“This class is intended for private drivers. However, this does not mean that we will not have a strong pilot, he added. – We intend to support private teams and are going to put a factory team”.
