Toyota decided to put on the Rally Portugal next month for the third car, behind the wheel which will sit Esapekka Lappi.
The reigning WRC2 champion Lappi was forced to sit early in the season, while Jari-Matti Latvala and Juho Hanninen defended the colors of the Japanese manufacturer, presented its first factory team in the WRC since 1999.
“Esapekka – young and hungry to win racer, but he has no time to prepare before his first rally – admitted the team leader Tommi Makinen in an interview with AUTOSPORT. – I have no doubt that he will give this everything. The goal put the same as the rest – get to the finish line and earn as many points as possible.
Our car still has room to Refine and Esapekka will become an important link in the whole process”.
