The organizers of the Finnish stage of the world rally championship forced to change the route of the race.
The reason for amending the race organizers called the increased speed, which in the three last stages have shown new cars category World Rally Car.
The organizing team has worked to update the program of the rally and approved the route in January – before the start of the world championship 2017. But after the first three stages in Monte-Carlo, Sweden and Mexico – they had to adjust their plans.
The thing at high speeds, which show the WRC cars prepared according to the new technical requirements. On the ninth special stage of the Rally Sweden this year winner of the best time of Ott Tanak showed the average speed of kzt137. 8 km/h Except for a threshold of 130 km/h on that dope crossed nine crews.
The FIA were unhappy with such high average speeds and demanded from the organizers during the preparation stages to calculate the maximum average speed of 130 km/h. Last year’s Rally Finland has become one of the leaders of the violations, ten of the 24 special stages the participants exceeded this limit.
Yes, and the overall average speed of the winner, who then became Chris, Mick, crept close to the limit, reaching 126.6 km/h. But then the participants were flown much less fast cars – this year, we could expect an even faster race!
That is why the organizers of the Rally Finland undertook an audit of the highway – a key parameter for them is the safety of all participants in the race.
“Our main priority is safety, but now the situation is different from the one that was in the beginning of the year, said in an interview to the official website of the Finnish stage of the world Cup representative team of organizers of the race brown Nuutinen. We are looking for the best solution that would not worsen the sports component.”
However, in the process of working on updating the route of the rally organizers faced a problem – quite difficult to make radical changes in the race program due to the fact that the new gravel roads in Central Finland does not appear and you have to creatively use familiar to racers tracks.
Therefore, the basic method that was used when creating the new route, was to change the direction of the familiar special stages – the Finns believe that this will affect the situation for the better.
“As we all know, the number of such roads is not growing, and in addition when planning a route we have to consider a lot of other options – said brown. – However, we want to update the race each year to riders, spectators and journalists have received more and more from our rally”.
Rally Finland will take place in the four-day format from 27 to 30 July.
