Sebastien Ogier will conduct tests with potential employers next week.
Four-time world champion will not celebrate with colleagues the end of the season after Rally Australia and will return to Europe to solve their problems associated with the departure of Volkswagen from the championship.
Now Ogier is negotiating with VW to get around in the contract stipulates a ban on tests for other teams.
“I hope everything will be solved, – said Ogier. – As per our gentleman’s agreement, I can get to work.
I intend to return to Europe as soon as possible to Monte-Carlo is just nothing.
For anybody not a secret that I was negotiating with some teams. Now I need to put more effort to solve them all issues and develop a plan for the future.
Before signing the contract I want to weigh and test the vehicle as it is important to feel the technique in which I will play next year.”
It is known that more than others want to sign Ogier in M-Sport and Citroen, but the French are not quite happy with the situation.
“I want to know everything and to begin work – continued Ogier. – We already hardly have time to prepare for Monte Carlo, so I hope that will make a decision as early as possible. Despite the fact that I want to work a few teams, the situation is not very good.”
While Ogier tried to avoid the expression of strong emotions over the departure of Volkswagen from the WRC, his teammate Andreas Mikkelsen admitted that a call from the team boss Sven Smeets was a shock for him.
“In Wales we have already heard several rumors, but the rumors there are rumors – said Mikkelsen in an interview with AUTOSPORT. – But then I was shocked. We always strive for the best result, but this rally will not be business as usual. When you look into the eyes of the mechanics, like emotions.
Sunday is the last time we start on these cars, and this will cause again a flurry of emotions. It makes me sad that such a great and successful team ends its way. And everyone else has the same feelings”.
Mikkelsen added that he had a hard time trying to cope with this news and ready to the season finale: “Usually we work a lot with videos. Now in my head while watching often slipped thought: “Well, what’s going on? Where will I be next season?”
It hardly helped me, but I’m still ready on all hundred”.
