Fernando Alonso said he would be happy to speak in several races of the FIA WEC in addition to Les-Manu, if he gets the chance.
A little over a week ago two-time world champion F1 has participated in “novice tests” in Bahrain, testing the Toyota TS050 Hybrid. Most likely driving this car in 2018 he will participate in the race “24 hours Le-Mana”.
Toyota will announce totaled pilots “Supersize 2018/2019” only in January, but several sources claim that Alonso may be not only in Le Mans and other WEC races.
In an interview with the British online Crash.net to the question if he was interested to hold an additional race in the WEC, Alonso said that he’d love to, but until he really thought about it.
“I need to think about it,’ said Alonso. – You need to study the calendar. That would be great. I would be very happy”.
Of five races that will take place in the WEC next year, only one overlaps with the stage of the Formula 1 – “6 hours of Fuji”. So in addition to Les-Manu, the Spaniard may hold race on tracks in Spa, Silverstone and Shanghai.
“First, there is an intersection with one of the races, so he’s not spending the whole season,’ said Eric boullier. We all know that Alonso would want to race every weekend. He is now a little racing. We also know that one day he wants to go in Le Mans. But while we have no official requests on this account and rumors, I do not want to comment”.
As noted a week ago the technical Director team Pascal Vasselon, Toyota will announce the driver line-up in January, and although he did not comment on the rumors about Alonso, hinted at possible changes in the composition of the pilots.
