The organizers of the world championship on races on endurance presented a radical calendar for next season, which will be divided into two parts.
The so-called “supersize” kicks off may 4-5, 2018 the Spa will be completed and a daily marathon “24 hours of Le Mans” on June 15-16 2019. Thus, in the calendar 2018/2019 will be two races at Le Mans and Spa, and would include a 12-hour marathon at Sebring.
This change is part of the reform plan, which was approved by the FIA and the ACO promoters after the statement of resignation Porsche from the championship.
“Five years ago, when it created the championship WEC, we worked on the idea of completing the season in “Le Mans”, but before this was not possible, – quotes the WEC boss Gerard Neveu AUTOSPORT. – “24 hours of Le Mans” is a key event in the calendar, and whether to make it final, makes sense”.
