German manufacturer BMW will use the new model M8 in the WEC season 2018 in the category of GTE Pro, according to AUTOSPORT.com.
Last September, BMW announced its plans for the return to Le Mans in 2018.
The head of Motorsport division, BMW Jens Marquardt said: “We are always interested to develop a new racing car. We look forward to the moment when BMW M8 GTE is ready.
While we can’t show her pictures, but I promise you that this car will look spectacular”.
Marquardt noted that the first tests of the new GTE is planned for the end of June, and the debut of the race car will likely be held in January 2018 in the first phase of a series of sports cars of IMSA at Daytona.

It is unknown which engine will be installed on the race car, but most likely it will be the same 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 used on the BMW M6 GTLM, IMSA serving.
