After a year’s absence at Le Mans, former F1 pilot Karun of Chandhok will return to the legendary 24-hour marathon with the crew Tockwith Motorsports LMP2.
Karun will pilot Ligier-Gibson P217 “6 hours of Spa and 24 hours of Le Mans”, and his team-mates on the British team will be Nigel Moore and Phil Hanson, who represent the Tockwith Motorsports in the season-2017 ELMS.
“It will be great to return to Le Mans, because it is the best race in the world, said Karun, in an interview AUTOSPORT.com. – Simon [Moore – owner of the team] called me and said they are looking for an experienced rider.
But I clearly understand that if I agree to speak in Le Mans, I will need to drive a preparatory race. Instead of having to drive one of the stages ELMS, the leadership team was invited to speak at Spa in the WEC”.
Recall that Chandhok raced on the ring Sarta from 2012 to 2015, inclusive, in the composition of the teams JRM and Murphy.
Also, the 33-year-old racer from India has experience of playing in F1 for Hispania and Lotus.
