The Russian SMP Racing program driver Vitaly Petrov will take part in the world championship on races on endurance FIA WEC season in 2017. The Russians will perform in all nine stages of the championship in the LMP2 class in the Manor.
In 2016 Petrov had already played in this championship at the wheel of the Russian sport prototype BR01. The most important success of the season was a podium in the marathon “24 hours of Le Mans”, when the Russian team SMP Racing in the composition of Vitaly Petrov, Viktor Shaitar and Kirill Ladygin won the bronze at the end of this daily race.
“Our team did well at Le Mans last season – said the founder and Director of the program SMP Racing Boris Rotenberg. This year it was decided about the continuation of our pilot Vitaly Petrov in races on endurance, where I’m sure he will adequately represent SMP Racing. At the same time Vitaly together with our other riders will work on the new Russian prototype of the BR1 and hopefully will make it in the championship in 2018”.
“I want to thank the program SMP Racing and personally Boris Romanovich Rotenberg, – said the pilot SMP Racing Vitaly Petrov. Also thanks to all my fans who were looking forward to my further participation in the championship. All together waiting for the first race of the season.”
