Former Formula 1 driver and champion WEC mark Webber was appointed Grand Marshal of the race “24 hours Le-Mana” in 2017, which will be held on June 17-18. Australian, late last year completed a career in motorsports, in particular, give the go-ahead by the French flag at the start.
“Hello everyone! I apologize for not being able to attend the press conference, said Webber in his video. Ahead of interesting season and of course the race “24 hours of Le Mans”, which will be held on June 17-18. As always, it will be a groundbreaking event. Appointment to the post of Grand-Marshal is a great honor for me. Thank you ACO and the FIA WEC. I’ve never had to perform this role.
Of course, I’ll be rooting for your favorite team Porsche, but Toyota also strives for success and wants to win.
In LMP2 it is expected an interesting fight, while the GT will record the number of producers. So we are waiting for an exciting race.
I have to pick up the baton from Alex Burca, Tom Kristensen, Alan Macnish and Henri Pescarolo who have achieved incredible success in “Le Mans” and the speakers there for very long. I not so many years took part in this race and don’t have such success. But I will be able to chat with the fans and explain the importance of this event.
Looking forward to meeting you and wish you all the best!”
