The Manor team, playing in the world championship on races on endurance, in 2018, plans to move into the LMP1 category.
The British team was the first to announced that intends to use a prototype of the company Ginetta, which is currently under development.
“Considering all the events in LMP1, we believe that 2018 will be an opportune moment to switch to this class, – quotes the Executive Director of the Graham Loudon AUTOSPORT. – For some time we negotiated with Ginetta and came to the conclusion that the transition to LMP1 will allow us to discover our strengths, such as experience in the development of its own chassis [in Formula 1].
As always, much depends on funding, but if we don’t start working on this issue now, then nothing will happen”.
The Loudon stressed that the Manor will stay in LMP2, if suddenly the plans to move into the main class will fail.
“We see LMP1 as a Supplement and not as an alternative, he said. We are not going to leave LMP2 and is now fully focused on the upcoming season.”
Loudon also confirmed that in 2017, the Manor will continue to play with two Oreca chassis specifications 07.
