The seventh stage of “Dakar-2005” will forever be remembered by the participants of the 27th edition of the main rally-RAID of the planet.
During the first part of the marathon stage, the length of which amounted to 660 kilometres, the riders caught up with sandstorm, and then met heavy fog and even rain.
One of the few who successfully overcame the vagaries of the weather in the sand of Mauritania, was Stephane Peterhansel. To nine in the evening to the bivouac in Tychite arrived only five crews. The others arrived so late that the organizers had to cancel the next stage.
