The company Mini has presented the new car John Cooper Works Rally, which put on the rally-RAID “Dakar-2017” in early January.
Factory team X-raid won the Dakar four wins from 2012 to 2015. But in 2016 their successful series came to an end – then won the Peugeot.
As head of X-Raid Sven Quandt, one of the key directions in the development of a new model of the car was aerodynamics.
“This model is completely different from the previous one, he said. – Special attention was paid to the work in the wind tunnel. This has led to improvements in the field of aerodynamics, along with other updates to help improve the speed of the machine.
One of the advantages which we gained while working in the windtunnel, is a higher speed and improved acceleration. These were the key areas for development.
The center of gravity was lowered to improve handling on all types of roads and on tracks with lots of turns”.
The main striking force X-raid “Dakar-2017” will be former WRC driver Mikko Hirvonen, member of the WRC2 Yazeed al-Rajhi and American Bryce Menzies. In total, Mini will put eight crews.
