In Belgium completed the legendary marathon “24 hours of Spa”, the fourth and Central stage of the series Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup.
The crew SMP Racing’s No. 72 Ferrari 488 GT3 lineup of Victor Shaitar, David Rigon and Miguel Molina made it to the finish of the race in the 24th position in the overall classification, despite technical problems that had to be addressed in the course of a daily marathon.
After completing the fourth stage of the SMP Racing crew retains third place in the standings of the series.
“We started the race pretty well and immediately able to play several positions, has summed up the daily marathon Victor Shaitar. – Later, however, earned passage through the pit lane. At the time I was riding in a tight group of ten vehicles; aerodynamics of a GT car is that if you’re chasing someone from behind is very tight, cornering is not enough clamping force. So the judges decided that I was too often ‘cut’, and imposed a fine.
Later due to the safety car, we successfully returned to the circle, and it seemed that all should get on well, but during the change of Davide Rigon he literally jammed the steering, the car had to roll into the pits and we lost about 19 laps. Nevertheless, we decided to go and fight to the end.
At the end of the race will be together with the pilots and engineer to analyze our capabilities in the season as a whole: for the podium to catch we have. The next step will be to work for this result.”
Next race, the season finale of the series Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, will take place on 1 October in Barcelona.
