The team owner of Haas F1 gene Haas has demanded from the team to close the gap on Ferrari in the year to half a second with the circle.
The American squad is preparing for its third season in the Big Prizes, while the first two years, they finished in eighth place in the Cup of designers. The technical partnership with Ferrari has enabled the young team to avoid the traditional F1 debutants difficulties in the early years.
But now, according to the boss, it’s time to do the next step.
“All the evidence suggests that the season 2018 for us will be better, said Haas in an interview with ESPN.co.uk. We identified our weaknesses and at last year’s Grand Prix of Mexico, held a big meeting and decided how the team will develop in the future.
It is no secret that we use a lot of Ferrari parts, so they are our main point of reference. And in order to be competitive, we must reduce the gap from the Scuderia to 0.5 seconds with a circle. Last year would have lagged for a second and a half. From the pole we were on average two seconds. So the goal was for this winter to lose a second.”
