The pilot Haas Romain Grosjean was left puzzled by the decision of the stewards who punished him a ten-second penalty for a collision with Force India driver Esteban a Window on the first lap of the Grand Prix of Brazil.
In addition, Romaine has received two penalty points to his license.
The Windows came down immediately after the collision, and Grosjean finished 15th.
“We did not expect such a race, – quotes Grosjean AUTOSPORT.com. I’m sorry that we have made contact with Esteban. I was hit from behind, that seems to have led to the puncture, after which I lost control of the car in a turn at a time when he was on the outer radius.
In my opinion, it’s a racing incident. I really don’t understand why I was punished.
Despite the damage to the car, I felt it well. I think we could count on conquest points. The last part on the Supersoft was good. We will try to transfer this positive experience from Sao Paulo to Abu Dhabi.”
When the window asked what he thought about the contact with Grosjean, Esteban replied: “At the time point of braking I was already ahead of him.
He just lost control of the car and crashed into me. Obviously, it’s his fault. He wasn’t supposed to act so rashly.
But I’m not going to sort things out with Romain and shouting at him. It won’t matter.”
