The pilot Toro Rosso Pierre went Out managed to finish 12th at the Brazilian Grand Prix, despite the fact that started from the 19th position on the grid.
“This is my best race in F1 since my debut in Malaysia, said Pierre. – Starting from 19th place, we knew that the day would be difficult.
The start of the race was excellent: I chose the inner path in the first turn and it worked, as I managed to overtake three cars. In the second turn I was ahead of another car, then in front of me happened blockage. Fortunately, I’ve avoided contacts.
If we talk about speed, we pushed the car max. In the beginning of the first cut I held onto Carlos [Sainz] and then managed to accelerate. However, due to excessive tire wear we had to control the pace.”
Race Brendon Hartley ended prematurely due to technical problems.
“Sorry, I had to go the distance – said the new Zealander. On the other hand, I had a good start, than it can be proud of: everything we’ve worked for, not passed in vain.
On the first lap I lost the position of Pierre, but after that went well.
For a long time I did without a radio that was not working: it was especially difficult during the restart for the safety car, as it was necessary to perform many procedures.
I think that could finish just behind Pierre, if not for excessive fuel consumption. I assumed that we will have problems to finish the race, but didn’t want to ask the team to not be upset. In the end what happened.
I hope that the race in Abu Dhabi will be more successful and we will be able to finish the season on a positive note.”
