His first race in the status of four-time world champion Lewis Hamilton finished fourth despite starting from the pit lane.
After an accident in qualifying, the Briton started last and was forced to battle during the greater part of the distance, at the finish, losing just 0.8 seconds the owner of the third place Kimi Raikkonen.
“It was fun. The race reminded me of the years in karting, when I always started from the last positions, said Hamilton in an interview with Sky Sports F1. Yesterday I screwed yourself. I think I was quick enough to win, leading from start to finish.
This morning I woke up thinking about what needs to atone and to give the team a reason to be proud. I tried to fight for third place, but towards the end of tire life just ended.
In any case, I liked the race, I got pleasure from the struggle and glad to have climbed to fourth place. Thank you to all the fans who chose me “Racer day”. I hope you enjoyed my breakthrough.”
