World champion-1997 Jacques Villeneuve believes that his performance at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas once again showed how much inferior to the speed mate at Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton.
The Finn started from pole position, but already in the first turn missed forward Sebastian Vettel. He retained at least second place, but started from the pit lane, Hamilton gave him only 2.7 seconds, despite the fact that the safety car was on the track at the very beginning of the race.
“Vettel had a great race, actually winning it at the start, – said Villeneuve in an interview with AUTOSPORT. – To understand what was really capable car, Mercedes need to look at the difference in pace between Hamilton and Bottas. For Valtteri, it’s embarrassing, because he was ahead of Lewis in just three seconds, even though he started from the pit lane.
He’s just not able to go at the same pace with Hamilton, and so it was throughout the season. But this is his real level. Bottas is a good second number.”
