A protégé of the Mercedes and the GP3 champion of season 2017 George Russell commented on his debut during the race weekend F1 in Brazil.
In the first session Russell took the place of Sergio Perez in the Force India VJM10 and showed the 12th time.
“I have been working in order to debut during the weekend, said the Briton. – Despite the fact that at the moment I feel absolutely fine, the awareness of participation in a racing weekend for me is something incredible.
This is a huge step forward and I tried to prepare for this exercise as best as possible, working on the simulator, with Mercedes and Force India.
I was not familiar with either the car or the track. So today it was important to arm yourself with knowledge and skills before the trip to Abu Dhabi- the track with which I am familiar.
Speaking directly about the training, initially we worked with the aerodynamics, then the team changed the settings under my racing preferences.
I feel confident on all the compositions rubber and quickly gained speed. I was very pleased with the car.”
