The head of the Red Bull Racing Christian Horner said that the Brazilian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen and Daniel ricciardo, who finished fifth and sixth, respectively, failed to realize the full potential of the machine because of fears for the Renault engines.
“Honestly, the race was very difficult,’ said Christian in comments to Sky Sports. – We have completely worn out the rubber on the car max, trying to keep up with the leaders. When are you going to complete the race with one pit stop, at the end of your tires will be ruined.
We chose the partial load mode of the engine because I was worried about their reliability.
The configuration of this track suits us, not as a racetrack in Mexico city, so we just couldn’t make up for all the lost time in the second sector.
We have 25-30 horsepower less than Mercedes and Ferrari. But we know that Renault are making progress in this direction. If they manage to gain power and solve problems with reliability over the winter, I’m sure next year at the disposal of our pilots will be a great car.”
