The decision to install the machines F1 security system “halo” led to the transfer tests of the new electric cars in Formula E for at least two months, according to AUTOSPORT.com.
Manufacturers of Formula E expected to get their hands on a new chassis for the production of electric Spark, which will be the same for everyone in season 2018/2019 years, in early January, but now they have to wait for the approval of the final design of the “halo”.
Thus, at the moment manufacturers do not have complete information to complete the layout of the electric motor, gearbox and inverter packages.
Sources say that work on the new chassis behind schedule by two months, and the teams of Formula E will receive them at their disposal not earlier than in mid-February.
The team hope that in this regard, the process of homologation of power units for the season 2018/2019 years will be extended.
