The pilot of McLaren Stoffel Vandorn will lose five places on the starting grid for the US Grand Prix because of an engine swap on his Honda MCL32 in anticipation of the beginning of the race weekend in Austin, according to AUTOSPORT.com.
McLaren had hoped to avoid the penalty in the US, because I think that among the remaining four races of the stage to the SOTA – the best chance of scoring.
But due to the fact that the Honda engine in the car Vandorn wrapped around the impressive mileage, it was decided to perform replacement of the unit. For Stoffele this is the eighth motor in the season 2017.
To minimize the penalty of the Belgian, Honda decided not to change the other elements of the power plant.
