The pilot of McLaren Stoffel Vandorn was unhappy with 14th place in the Grand Prix of Japan.
Previous two Asian races in Singapore and Malaysia Stoffel finished in seventh place.
At the Japanese Grand Prix the Belgian was also hope to get into the points, but the contact on the first lap with Kimi Raikkonen brought his efforts to nothing.
“I had some good racing, but GP Japan wants to forget, said Vandorn. – I had a normal start, but in the second turn I got hit by Kimi.
I don’t think he did it intentionally, it’s just our car was at the wrong time in the wrong place. From that moment my race was spoiled – I retreated to the back of the peloton and before the checkered flag went by myself.”
His teammate Fernando Alonso started from last place and finished 11th.
“We managed to break the 11-th place with one pit stop. This can be considered a good comeback – said Fernando. – I was not lucky in the fight with Felipe [Massa] at the end of the race. He had problems with the tyres, but when on the track established mode virtual machine security, it allowed him to catch his breath.
Then we caught up with the leaders, which I again lost the chance to attack, but Felipe took the last point by finishing tenth”.
