Nico Hulkenberg believes that the transition in the Sauber in 2013 has seriously damaged his career and deprived of the opportunity to go to Ferrari.
In the 2012 season, the Swiss team, according to some experts, had probably the best chassis in the peloton and regularly fighting for podiums. After some thought, the Germans decided to leave Force India and go to Hinwil. But next year, Sauber has lost form, and for the first half of the season, Hulkenberg has scored only a few points.
In the summer of that year he was considered one of the candidates to replace Felipe Massa at Ferrari, but ultimately Ferrari invited Kimi Raikkonen, and Nico himself has returned to Force India.
How good is Nico Hulkenberg?
“Sauber was interested in me. At that time they had a fast car and a perfect infrastructure, said Hulkenberg in an interview with Motorsport-Total. – I had to choose, and in September I decided. But after the transition it became clear that it is not so. The team was in huge debt, but I nothing about it told.
If I’d stayed at Force India in 2014 could be in a Ferrari. But now I’m all happy. With Renault I have good prospects.”
