The pilot of Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen commented on the results of the first day of racing weekend in Japan.
In the first session Max was ranked sixth, and in the afternoon, when the track dropped, the rain, the Dutchman did not show the scoring time.
“Even on a dry track we can achieve a good result. If we talk about wet conditions, we are confident that we will achieve a good result, – said Max. – Overall the day was successful. I was not able to test the qualification rate because of red flags, but for long stretches the car behaved well.
We may still lose a little bit of Mercedes, but if the track temperature will rise on Sunday, it should help us.”
Daniel Riccardo in the same way as Verstappen, showed time in the second practice, and in the morning the Aussie was third.
“It is obvious that RBR is getting stronger, but I’m not sure that now we are the best team,’ said the Australian. We had a good weekend in Malaysia, but in the morning, Ferrari has shown its strength on the rubber Soft, and Mercedes definitely will be added on Saturday.
We have got a pretty good car. I think that leaders have a slight advantage over us, so we need a little more to add to make them afraid and worry”.
