Championship leader Lewis Hamilton admitted that it was not satisfied with the second place following the results of Grand Prix of Malaysia.
The Briton played another six points from his main rival Sebastian Vettel and increased the lead in the standings to 34 points. But given the start of the Ferrari driver in last place, he clearly hoped for more.
“Given that Vettel has started the last, the result, frankly, was not the best. I should have won, but it wasn’t pace, – quotes Hamilton Sky Sports F1. – Before the start we understood that we are inferior to competitors in speed. According to our calculations, the Ferrari was faster for 0.8 seconds, while Red Bull Racing – at 0.5-0.6 seconds. And so it happened.
There’s not much I could do. When Max is attacked, I decided not to resist too much and not to risk it. It was obvious that he will fight to the end, whereas I had something to lose.
At the end of the second segment, the situation is more or less normal, but in some turns the car still behaved nervously. A lot of work ahead, but there is no choice. Yes, the whole year saying we have the best car. On some tracks our car is really faster than the competition. But if taken as a whole, I don’t think our car can be called the best. We have some serious problems. Can’t go into details, but they need to fix before next season if we want to continue the fight with Ferrari and Red Bull Racing”.
