Jolyon Palmer said that doesn’t get mad at Renault, where he has spent the last Grand Prix of the season in 2017.
After qualifying in Suzuka it became known that the race in Japan will be for Jolyon in the last part of Renault, and in the remaining Grand Prix his team from Enstone will replace Carlos Sainz.
Official: Jolyon Palmer leaves Renault after the Grand Prix of Japan
“To me the heads of Renault spoke directly… Carlos signed with the team the following year, and Cyril [Abitbul] wanted to put him in the car, already in 2017, Palmer said in comments to Sky Sports. – I have long argued that command and respect her decision. But I still wanted to finish the season in the Renault.
It was a difficult season. Every weekend there are more issues, but the pressure on me increased.
I wish the team and Carlos all the best in the future. Our paths diverge, and in the future I’ll work on something else”.
In the race Palmer started with 18 seats and crossed the finish line 12th.
“I knew in Japan, I have to pay a penalty on the starting grid. Think finish 12th at the start of the 18 th space is the maximum result. Perhaps if not a virtual safety car in the closing stages of the race, I could earn one point, as went four seconds faster lap times than the Masses. But I’m still glad to finish the race,” summed up the British.
Recall that in 2017 Palmer brought the Renault eight points, finishing sixth in Singapore.
